In support of His Highness the Amir, on 12 September,
HE the Foreign Minister pressed the UN to take action
against the blockade on Qatar, stating that the blockade
is violating international law and human rights and
attempting to push Qatar into a “state of trusteeship”.
The Foreign Minister declared that Qatar is “willing to
talk” if it is based on “principles which are not violating
the international law and respect the sovereignty of each
country”.

In an interview with Swiss outlet Le Temps, HE the
Foreign Minister said that: “We admit to differences on
certain subjects regarding international geopolitics. But
we should work to find an agreement so that Gulf security
is not compromised. [The blockading countries] are not
interested in a rational exchange of arguments. They want
to make us a vassal state”.
HE the Foreign Minister finished by affirming that Qatar
“is a sovereign nation and our rights as a state are the
same as those of Saudi Arabia, regardless of the size or
strength of the country”.
